White wood flooring has long associations with Scandinavia. During long dark Nordic winter months white floorboards help keep rooms light and ward off winter depressions.
Today, the use of “White Wash Fir”, “White Wash Oak”, “Limed Oak” or “Lyed Oak” is one of the hottest design trends in up-market interiors. White floorboards make a stunning design foundation to light airy spaces and modern wood kitchens.

There are two ways to achieve the white washed effect:
Applying a white pigment (normally used for Fir)
Treating the wood with lime, or lye (normally used for Oak)
White washing is an extremely difficult and costly process to carry out on site. It has to be done over a period of days. It can easily double installation costs and is very difficult to achieve an even finish.
Pre-finished White Engineered Wood Flooring Options
All our pre-finished white oak and fir floorboards are tongue and groove on all edges. They’re available in the following sizes:
Widths: 90mm, 140mm, 180mm, 220mm & 300mm, mixed and random widths.
Herringbone / chevron parquet blocks
Random lengths of up to 3m.
We produce and hand finish all white hardwood flooring consignments to order in our UK Sussex workshop.
Naked Floors uses a natural air drying process rather than UV curing. Doing so allows us to use natural wood oils with very low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) content compared to mass produced floorboards.
This makes them much easier to maintain over the long term.
