Maintenance is the key to lasting beauty of your Naked Floors.
However, cleaning the floors is no more effort than vacuuming carpet or mopping vinyl.
For 24 hours the floor coating is still curing, so:
- Be gentle when moving back furniture.
- Attach felt protectors under all furniture.
- Wait for 72 hours before replacing door mats area rugs.
- Avoid using water or any cleaner during this period.
- Avoid heavy foot traffic.

Q. What should I do to protect my floors?
A. Place mats at the exterior and interiors of front and back doors to help prevent the tracking of grit, dirt and sand.
Q. How do I routinely care for my wood floors?
A. Weekly dust mopping or vacuuming is the most essential part of wooden floor care. A good quality dust mop or bristle headed vacuum attachment is the most effective method for cleaning dust and potentially damaging grit off the floor.
Q. How should I clean up spillages?
A. Lightly sponge mop with either plain lukewarm water or with a mild cleaning solution diluted with lukewarm water. After sponge mopping, wrap a dry cloth around a dust mop and wipe it across the floor. The water or cleaning solution will loosen the dirt and the dry cloth will pick it up.
Additionally:
- Always place mats and throw rugs at doorway exteriors and interiors to prevent the tracking of grit, dirt and sand.
- Wipe up food and other spills immediately with a dry or slightly dampened towel (wipe dry).
- Kitchen floors experience the most traffic in a home. Place an area rug in front of the kitchen sink and oven. Shake out or vacuum the rugs frequently.
- When moving heavy furniture, protect wooden floors by slipping a piece of cloth or blanket under the legs.
- Keep high heels of shoes in good repair. An unprotected tip will dent any wooden floor.
- Install proper floor protectors on furniture. Protectors (Felt type protectors are recommended) will allow chairs to move easily over the floor without scuffing. Clean or replace the protectors on a regular basis to remove any grit that may have become imbedded on protectors.
- Never wet mop or use oil soaps, pine based cleaners, liquid or paste waxes, silicone-based polishes, strong cleaners containing solvents, vinegar, bleach or ammonia. Excessive water causes wood to expand, possibly damaging the flooring. Oil soap products will deteriorate the finish causing it to flake and peel off. Finishes are to protect the surface of the wood; they are not waterproofing products. Use only wood floor maintenance products.
- Keep your pets nails trimmed no matter how large or small your pet is. Pets with long nails can scratch and dull the floor finish requiring additional maintenance or premature recoating. Pet urine will turn wood black and not sand out.
